South Korea suits independent travellers well: fast trains, excellent food at every price level, and cities that feel safe late at night. Seoul is the obvious start, with Busan and Jeju easy to add.

Entry for Singapore passports

Singapore passport holders can visit visa-free for up to 90 days. The K-ETA travel authorisation is not required until 31 December 2026, because Korea extended the exemption for Singapore. You do need to complete the free e-Arrival card online, up to three days before arrival. Check the rules again if you travel in 2027.

When to go

  • Early April: cherry blossoms in Seoul, Jinhae and Gyeongju.
  • May and early June: warm and green before the rainy season.
  • Late June to July: monsoon rains, then hot and humid in August.
  • Mid-October to early November: autumn leaves; the best time of year.
  • December to February: very cold and dry, with skiing near Pyeongchang.

Getting there from Singapore

Direct flights connect Singapore with Seoul (Incheon) and Busan, and Scoot flies direct to Jeju. For Gyeongju, Jeonju or other cities, fly into Seoul or Busan and continue by KTX train or bus. The planner compares connections and rail options.

Getting around

Buy a T-money card for subways, buses and taxis. KTX high-speed trains link Seoul and Busan in under three hours. Use Naver Map or KakaoMap for directions, and Kakao T to call taxis.

Questions people ask

Do Singaporeans need K-ETA for Korea?

Not until 31 December 2026. South Korea has extended the K-ETA exemption for Singapore passport holders to that date, but you must fill in the free e-Arrival card online before you arrive.

Does Google Maps work in Korea?

Only partly; walking and driving directions are limited. Use Naver Map or KakaoMap, both of which have English.
